On March 2019, I was inflicted with Tinnitus. At first, it was quiet, random ringing in my left ear and it steadily grew to irritating noise. There are different types of ringing and mine was like a thin sheet metal grinding noise.
I consulted the doctors and they told me that there is no cure. Also, the ear specialist told me that it can progressively get worse and lead to hearing loss. I was not traumatized by the diagnosis, but it was not a good feeling.
Temporary Relief by Fidgeting around the Ear
Every time I heard the ringing noise, I’d try to re position the inside of the ear by inserting my index finger inside and shift it around until the ringing stopped. This worked for a while, but the ringing returned and continued periodically throughout the day. People would advise me to drink more water, sleep more, and eat more. I tried all their suggestions and it would get better, but ringing did not stop.
One day at home, the ringing in my left ear would not stop no matter what I did. In addition, I had sinus pain that I felt on the right side of my head. My fidgeting with finger did not help and sinus started to get worse. The pain and irritation became unbearable, so I asked my wife to pray over me.
As she was praying, I was repeating the words “In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus.” As I repeated these words, I felt relief from the ringing and the pain, but as soon as I let up, it came back. So I repeated the same words with fervency, then relief came.
After doing this for a while, I realized something. Jesus has given us “…power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease” – Matthew 10:1 and commanded us to go out and heal the sick. But, why can we not seem to heal. We are laying hands and healing in His Name, but we don’t see the results.
Then, the Holy Spirit reminded me of Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:29). As Jesus approached frightened disciples on the boat, Peter said, “Lord, if it is thou, then bid me come onto thee on water”. Jesus simply said “come” and Peter walked on water. We don’t know exactly for how long, but Peter walked on water and when he saw the boisterous wind, he started to sink. What happened? Why did Peter start to walk on water but quickly fell into it?
When Jesus arrived at the frightened disciples, they were all focused on Jesus. I believe that Peter was focused on the Lord, when he got out of the boat to walk. He was not thinking about anything else. He was totally focused on the Lord, but when he saw and heard the wind, he lost his focus. This made me realize that our healing prayers are not resulting in healing that we seek, because we lack focus.
So I tried to focus on healing while I prayed. It worked for a while, but then I lost focus again. Even the slightest distraction caused me to lose my focus. Then I tried to focus on something that is not an object because it may distract from healing prayer. I decided to focus on inside of my head. A spot slightly above my eye level and in the centre of my head. I imagined that ray of forces are beaming to one spot.
As I focused on the rays concentrating in one spot, I prayed the words, “Heal in the name of Jesus. The ringing sound will disappear in the name of Jesus. Sinus will be healed in the name of Jesus.” This time all the irritation and pain went away. Afterwards, when it came back, I did the same and I was relieved. Each time I repeated this procedure, the relief came quicker. After a while, I just had to focus and start to say ‘Jesus’, and the relief would come immediately.
Although I was relived from irritation and pain, it was not complete healing. So I found out that Tinnitus occurs when the tiny hair in cochlea, which is a spiral shaped organ in the inner ear, is damaged. Then, I focused on the ear pinpointing my mind at the tiny hair inside the cochlea, while I repeated the words of healing in His name. I prayed very focused on the healing of one small organ inside my ear. When I finished, I felt refreshed and ringing noise disappeared.
I’m relieved from it. I would go on for days without being bothered by it. When it does come back, I just say a short focused prayer and it is gone. I am trying focused prayer for preventive healing on other parts of my body to prevent any development of illness.
Please try to focused prayer on yourselves and let me know how it turns out.
